Yasmine S.
Ali, MD, MSCI, FACC, FACP, is a medical doctor who specializes in
preventive cardiology and clinical lipidology. Dr. Ali is president
of Nashville Preventive Cardiology, PLLC, in Nashville, TN. She
also serves as a medical writer, editor, and speaker in a variety
of capacities.
Dr. Ali went to medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, from which she graduated with her MD in 2001. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia Health System, and completed her fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) from Vanderbilt in 2007. During her cardiovascular medicine fellowship, she received advanced (Level III) training in preventive cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Ali is dedicated to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (diseases of the heart and blood vessels) through an individualized approach for every patient, and particularly through patient education.
Dr. Ali is
the Obesity Expert for Verywell.com. She is also Chief
Editor of Medscape Reference's Atherosclerosis and Congenital Heart
Disease sections, serves as a Medical Editor and speaker for
MedStudy, and is a Contributing Editor for MCG Health, LLC.
Additionally, she is a member of the Slideshow Advisory Board for
Medscape.
Dr. Ali also
has 7 years of experience performing disability, medical necessity,
and utilization reviews, and is a widely-sought national speaker.
Her speaking engagements have included MedStudy's annual internal
medicine board review course, RGA Reinsurance's annual meeting, the
annual meeting of the Tennessee Chapter of the American College of
Physicians, numerous forums and CME courses at the Vanderbilt
University School of Nursing and the Vanderbilt University School
of Medicine, CME meetings and courses at Meharry Medical College,
and wellness seminars for regional Holiday Inn employee wellness
weeks and for Nashville Preventive Cardiology.
Dr. Ali is a
Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of
the American College of Physicians (FACP). She is also a
member of the American Heart Association, National Lipid
Association, American Medical Association, Tennessee Medical
Association, and Nashville Academy of Medicine, and has held
several leadership positions in the latter two organizations as
well as in the TN Chapter of the American College of
Physicians.
Dr. Ali
volunteers her time as a cardiologist at Siloam Family Health
Center and with the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. She is
passionate about preventing cardiovascular disease through
education, awareness, and evidence-based
treatment.
